Germany's Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) raided cryptocurrency ATMs and seized 13 machines in 35 locations, the media reported.
According to BaFin, ATM operators installed the machines illegally. The regulator's representatives noted that they had to be registered before installing the ATMs. BaFin also drew attention to the fact that exchanging euros for cryptocurrencies, which were offered to users of the devices, violates the law.
The regulator carried out the raids jointly with the Federal Criminal Police Office, local law enforcement agencies and the German Federal Bank.
